A Gift of Magic by Lois Duncan (1971)

Each Garret grandchild was given a gift from their grandmother when she died.  Brendon inherited the gift of music, Nancy’s twin sister Kirby has the gift of dancing, but Nancy was given the same gift her grandmother had — ESP (Extra Sensory Perception).  Not only can Nancy read minds, but she can control people’s actions.  As you can imagine, this is not an easy gift to manage.

I read A Gift of Magic when it first came out in 1971 and never forgot it.  decades later my daughters read it and felt the same.   Such an interesting read, with an unexpected twist at the end.  I think your kids will like it too!

Middle Grade Reading Level, 208 pages, Published in 1971.
