When We Were Very Young & Now We Are Six by A. A. Milne (1924 & 1927)

Of course, we know A. A. Milne best for his Winnie the Pooh books, but in fact he wrote dozens of novels, short stories, plays, articles and poetry.  He saw himself mostly as a playwright.

When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six were written during the same years that the Pooh stories were and you will see some overlap.  These two volumes contain dozens of sweet and clever poems written for his son, Christopher Robin Milne.  Some of them you’ll probably recognize, but I’m guessing many of them will be new to you.  The illustrations by E. H. Shepard — same illustrator for original Pooh books — add so much!
