The Dog Who Wouldn’t Be by Farley Mowat (1957)

dogwho.jpgHave you ever known a pet that seemed almost human?

Mutt is that kind of dog.  Farley’s mother buys a tiny pup for four cents from a little boy who shows up on her doorstep one afternoon.  Little does she know what fun and delight this new family member will bring her eight year old son.

Mutt has both derring-do and personality plus and turns out to be the perfect companion for a young, imaginative boy living on the remote plains of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.  Mutt is up for every crazy adventure his human friend can possiblly imagine!

If you enjoyed Mr. Mowat’s Owls in the Family then you’ll LOVE The Dog Who Wouldn’t Be!

This is probably the funniest dog story you’ll ever read!
